Every plus size rain jacket we make is designed from scratch for plus size bodies in sizes 1X to 6X, with deeper armholes, longer bodies and hoods that fit. So the question is not which one fits. They all do. The question is which one matches the way you will actually wear it. Here is the honest version.
The short answer
- You travel, or you want a jacket that lives in your bag: the Pod. Lightest, packs into its own pouch, $74.99.
- You want one rain jacket for everything, every day: the Camden. Fully taped seams, packable, cut for curvy hips, $89.99.
- You want coverage past the hip, a coat more than a jacket: the Berwick. 37 inches on a 3X, fully lined, $94.99.
- You hike, walk the dog in weather, or hate stiff rain jackets: the Mystique. Stretch shell, windproof, breathes when you move, $89.99.
The Pod, for travel and just in case
The Pod is the one to keep in the car, the carry on or the bottom of the tote. It is our lightest plus size rain jacket, it stuffs into a pouch about the size of a paperback, and it comes back out without looking like it spent a week folded. Waterproof and breathable, taped seams, adjustable hood and cuffs, zippered pockets. Five colors including Pale Pink and Celestial Yellow if you want the rain jacket to be the outfit.
Best for: travel, festivals, the school run, anyone who has been caught out one too many times. Sizes 1X to 6X. Shop the Pod.
The Camden, for every day
If you buy one rain jacket, this is the one. The Camden has fully taped seams, so the rain stays out at the stitching and not just at the fabric, and it still packs down for travel. It is cut with an active fit that sits at the low hip and, in the words of one customer, is curvy hip friendly. The newest run has the deepest armholes we have ever cut, about 27.5 inches on a 3X, so it goes on over a sweater without a fight. Length is 33 inches on a 3X.
Best for: commuting, dog walks, rainy weekends, the jacket by the door. Six colors. Sizes 1X to 6X. Shop the Camden.
The Berwick, for real coverage
Some days a jacket is not enough. The Berwick is our longline plus size rain jacket, 37 inches from the back of the neck to the hem on a 3X, so it covers past the hip and over whatever you are wearing underneath. It is fully lined, has critical taped seams, a drawcord waist, a storm hood and a snap front over the zipper. It reads as a trench and works as a raincoat.
Best for: city rain, work, anyone who wants their legs covered too. Four colors. Sizes 1X to 6X. Shop the Berwick.
The Mystique, for moving in the rain
The Mystique is different from the other three. The shell is a three layer stretch fabric with a waterproof rated 8K membrane, which means it moves when you reach, bend or carry a pack instead of fighting you. It is windproof, it breathes, and customers who hike in it tell us it sheds heavy rain and stays comfortable over a fleece. It is not packable, and it is the softest of the four against the skin.
Best for: hiking, hilly walks, anyone who finds ordinary rain jackets stiff and noisy. Three colors. Sizes 1X to 6X. Shop the Mystique.
Do not forget the bottom half
Rain pants are the difference between a wet commute and a dry one. Ours are packable, waterproof and breathable, with an elastic comfort waist, in short, regular and tall inseams (about 29, 31 and 34 inches) so the hem lands where it should. $59.99, sizes 1X to 6X. Shop the rain pants.
A note on 4X, 5X and 6X
Every jacket above runs the full range, 1X through 6X, in every color we list. That is not a limited run at the top end. It is how we make everything.
